TravelMechanic limited warranty
Last updated: October, 2025
Mobile Mechanic Warranty in Plain English
Below is the full legal text of our Limited Warranty. Before you read it, here's the short version: most mobile mechanic repairs booked through TravelMechanic come with a 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty on parts and labor (90 days / 3,000 miles for oil changes). If a defect shows up in that window, we either send a mechanic to fix it at no charge or refund what you originally paid.
The most important rule: contact us first if anything seems wrong. Going to another shop before we've had a chance to inspect can void your coverage. We respond fast — most warranty visits are scheduled within 1–2 business days of your email.
What's covered
Defects in materials and workmanship for parts we supplied and labor performed by the mechanic. If the issue is genuinely a defect (not normal wear, an unrelated failure, or external damage), we cover the cost of getting it fixed — no out-of-pocket labor or parts charges to you.
How to use it
Email support@travelmechanic.ai with your booking ID, original service date, current mileage, and a short description of the symptom. We schedule a mechanic to inspect, then either repair, replace the part, or refund your original payment, depending on the situation.
What's not covered
Damage from accidents, theft, weather, or misuse. Repairs not booked through TravelMechanic. Parts not supplied through the platform. Pre-existing conditions that weren't part of the original service. Diagnostic and inspection services. The legal terms below cover the full exclusions list.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the warranty period for repairs booked through TravelMechanic?
Most repairs are covered for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first, measured from the date and odometer reading at the time of service. Oil changes carry a shorter warranty of 90 days or 3,000 miles. Some parts come with a longer manufacturer warranty, in which case the longer warranty applies to that part.
What does the warranty actually cover?
It covers defects in materials and workmanship for parts we supply and the work performed by the mechanic. If a covered defect appears during the Warranty Period, we send a mechanic at no charge to fix the defect or replace the faulty part. In some cases we'll instead refund the full amount you originally paid for the service.
How do I file a warranty claim?
Email support@travelmechanic.ai during the Warranty Period and include your booking ID, the original service date, current mileage, and a brief description of the issue. We'll send a mechanic to inspect, then walk you through the resolution — repair, part replacement, or refund.
What can void or limit the warranty?
Having another (non-TravelMechanic) provider work on the same system before we have a chance to inspect, installing parts not supplied through the platform, paying a mechanic directly outside the platform, using the vehicle commercially, and damage from accidents, theft, vandalism, or weather are all outside warranty coverage. The full list of exclusions is in the legal terms below.
This Limited Warranty is offered by TravelMechanic ("we" or "TravelMechanic"). We stand by the quality of our services. We want to give you peace of mind when you choose us for your maintenance and repair needs. This page outlines the coverage and conditions of our Limited Warranty.
Coverage
TravelMechanic warrants that all maintenance and repair services you purchase through our platform (the "Services") will be free from defects in materials and workmanship. This covers parts we supply and the work performed by our technicians, subject to the conditions below.
Exclusions
This Limited Warranty does not cover incidental or consequential damages, unless prohibited by applicable law. We disclaim all implied warranties not expressly stated in this document or our Terms of Service.
Limitation of damages
Our liability under this warranty is limited to the actual cost of the covered repair. We aim to provide a fair resolution for any covered issue.
Transferability
This warranty applies only to the original purchaser of the Services. It is non-transferable. It does not cover anyone who later buys, borrows, or leases the vehicle after the Services were performed.
Duration of coverage
Here is how long your coverage lasts under our Limited Warranty:
Coverage period
Unless stated otherwise, coverage is valid for 12 months or 12,000 miles — whichever comes first. We measure this from the date and odometer reading at the time we performed the Services. This is called the "Warranty Period."
Oil change warranty
Oil changes carry a shorter warranty: 90 days or 3,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Part-specific warranties
If a part we supply carries its own warranty longer than the standard Warranty Period, that longer warranty applies to that part. Our Limited Warranty still covers the labor performed by our mechanic.
Important note
Any repair work done under this warranty does not reset or extend the original Warranty Period.
How we address defective services
We stand behind every service we provide. If you find a defect in the materials or workmanship during the Warranty Period, we will make it right. Here is how:
Complimentary correction
We will send a mechanic at no charge to fix the defect. If a part used in the original service is faulty, we will replace it.
Full refund
We can refund the full amount you paid for the Services. Note that discounts or promotions applied to the original price are not included in the refund. We refund only what you paid.
Contact us first
If you spot a covered defect during the Warranty Period, contact us right away. We will start a diagnostic or repair process to resolve the issue. Please reach out before seeking any other solution.
Voiding your warranty
Using a repair provider not booked through TravelMechanic during the Warranty Period may void your coverage. Contact us first — we can assess the problem quickly and arrange the right fix.
What is not covered
The following situations fall outside the scope of our Limited Warranty:
- Direct payments to mechanics: Work you paid for directly to a mechanic, outside of the TravelMechanic platform, is not covered.
- Unprocessed services: Work not scheduled through TravelMechanic is not covered. This includes work done by a mechanic you met through us but did not book through our platform, work by any unaffiliated mechanic, and any work you performed yourself.
- Damage from external causes: We do not cover damage from misuse, neglect, accidents, theft, vandalism, fire, water, hail, or freezing temperatures.
- Commercial vehicles: Vehicles used for commercial purposes are not covered.
- Unrelated issues: Problems unrelated to the specific service you purchased are not covered. For example, an oil leak from faulty engine seals is not covered under an oil change warranty.
- Diagnostic and inspection services: Diagnostics, inspections, and pre-purchase inspections are not covered by this warranty.
- Pre-existing conditions: Issues that existed before our technician began the service and were not known at the time are not covered.
- Repairs beyond the original diagnosis: Extra repairs you requested outside the technician's initial scope are not covered — unless you authorized and paid for them through TravelMechanic.
- Consequential effects: Secondary issues caused by prior neglect or unrelated conditions are not covered. For example, shifting problems revealed during a transmission fluid service are a consequential effect, not a warranty claim.
- Unauthorized parts: Installing parts not ordered through TravelMechanic will void the warranty.
- Non-compliance with manufacturer specs: Services that deviate from manufacturer recommendations are not covered.
- Independent repairs: If you seek repairs elsewhere before giving us a chance to inspect or fix the issue, your warranty may be voided.
Our discretion and charges
TravelMechanic makes all final decisions on warranty claims, exclusions, and voidance.
If a service call is made under this warranty and we determine the issue is not caused by a defect in materials or workmanship, you will be charged one hour of labor. Charges for non-warranty services performed at the same time as warranty services must also be paid.
How to file a warranty claim
Email us at support@travelmechanic.ai within the Warranty Period to start a claim. We will send a mechanic to inspect the issue and guide you through the next steps.
