Below is the legal version of our Privacy Policy. Before you read it, here's the short version in everyday language: TravelMechanic only collects the information needed to connect you with a mobile mechanic and process your booking, and we don't sell your personal data to anyone, ever.

When you submit a service request we ask for your name, contact info, vehicle details, and the address where you want the mechanic to meet you. That information is shared only with the mechanics quoting your job and the third-party tools we use to run the service (payments, SMS, email, hosting). Nothing about your request, vehicle, or contact details is sold or used for outside marketing.

What we collect and why

Account details (name, email, phone) so we can identify you and send updates. Vehicle details (year, make, model, VIN) so mechanics can quote accurately. Service-location details (your address) so the mechanic can come to you. Payment details, processed and stored by our PCI-compliant payment partners — we never store full card numbers on our servers.

Who can see your data

Only the mechanics actively quoting your specific job, plus the operational tools we use to deliver service (payments, SMS, email, analytics, hosting). Mechanics see your name, vehicle, location, and the details of the service you requested. They do not see your payment information.

Your control

You can request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it at any time by emailing privacy@travelmechanic.ai. You can opt out of marketing emails with one click and continue using the service as a registered user. Full details of your rights are documented below.

Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us when you use our services. This helps us provide you with the best possible experience and connect you with qualified mechanics.

Personal Information:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, and password when you create an account
  • Vehicle Information: Make, model, year, VIN, and service history to help us provide accurate estimates
  • Location Information: Your address or location data to connect you with nearby mechanics
  • Payment Information: Credit card details and billing information (processed securely through our payment partners)
  • Service Requests: Details about the services you request and any communications with mechanics

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our services. Here's how:

  • Service Delivery: To connect you with mechanics, process service requests, and facilitate communication
  • Payment Processing: To process transactions securely and send you receipts and invoices
  • Personalization: To provide personalized service recommendations based on your vehicle and service history
  • Communication: To send you service updates, confirmations, appointment reminders, and important notices
  • Safety and Security: To verify mechanic credentials, prevent fraud, and ensure platform safety

SMS & RCS Text-Messaging Program

TravelMechanic operates a 1:1 transactional text-messaging program over SMS and RCS (Rich Communication Services). The program is delivered through Twilio and the underlying mobile carriers.

How you opt in. You opt in by initiating contact with us — by texting our published number, by calling our published number (we may send one follow-up SMS if the call is unanswered), or by submitting your phone number through our website or chat interface. By doing so, you agree to receive text messages from TravelMechanic at the mobile number you provided.

What we send. Conversational replies from our AI concierge and human team, quote details, appointment confirmations, payment-method setup links, mechanic-assigned notifications, en-route updates, and post-service receipts. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.

Message frequency. Message frequency varies based on your service request and the lifecycle of your appointment.

Standard rates. Message and data rates may apply. TravelMechanic does not charge you for the messages themselves; any charges come from your mobile carrier under your own plan.

How to opt out. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any TravelMechanic message. We will send a single confirmation and will not send you further text messages from that number. You can re-enroll at any time by replying START or by texting us again.

How to get help. Reply HELP to any TravelMechanic message for support information, or email support@travelmechanic.ai.

Data collected through messaging. When you message us, we receive your mobile number, the content of your messages, the date and time, and metadata about the message (carrier, message type, delivery status). We use this information solely to operate the messaging program, deliver your service, and meet our legal and regulatory obligations. Conversations are mirrored to our internal operations workspace so our team can support and supervise your service request.

Mobile information sharing. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We do share the minimum information required with our messaging subprocessors (Twilio and the underlying mobile carriers) strictly to deliver the messages you have requested.

Data Security

We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect your data.

  • Encryption: All sensitive data is encrypted in transit using SSL/TLS protocols and at rest using AES-256 encryption
  • Secure Payment Processing: Payment information is processed through PCI-DSS compliant payment partners

  • Secure Infrastructure: Our platform is hosted on secure, monitored servers with regular backups

Third-Party Services

We work with trusted third-party service providers to help us operate our platform and provide services to you.

  • Payment Processors: Stripe and PayPal for secure payment processing
  • Analytics & Advertising: Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand platform usage, improve user experience, and measure the effectiveness of our advertising. When you submit an estimate request, we use Google Enhanced Conversions to improve the accuracy of our conversion measurement. This works by sending a hashed (SHA-256) version of the contact information you provided (email address and/or phone number) to Google. Google uses this privacy-safe hash solely to match your submission to a Google Ads click — it cannot reconstruct your original contact details from the hash. We do not use this data for any purpose other than measuring our advertising performance. You can opt out of Google's personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com.
  • Communication: Twilio for SMS notifications and SendGrid for email services
  • Cloud Services: AWS for secure data storage and hosting
  • Customer Support: Zendesk for customer service and support tickets

These third parties are contractually obligated to protect your data and may only use it to provide services on our behalf. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Children's Privacy

TravelMechanic is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@travelmechanic.ai. We will take steps to delete such information from our systems.
