Everyone Pays the Same Fair Price
At TravelMechanic, we believe in fairness and transparency in auto repair costs
Equality for All
With us, everyone in our community pays the same fair price. We believe that your gender or any other factor shouldn't determine the cost of auto repair.
Online Price Calculator
We've developed an easy-to-use online price calculator that provides you with an instant quote. The price is determined by factors such as your vehicle, the service needed, and your location.
Flat-Rate Pricing
You'll receive a flat rate for your job based on calculated time and any required parts. There's no need for negotiations, and you won't encounter any last-minute surprises. Our price remains consistent, even if the job takes longer than initially estimated.
Fair Pricing, Always
Our commitment to fairness means you can trust that you're getting the best possible price, every single time.
How TravelMechanic Pricing Actually Works
Pricing for mobile auto repair through TravelMechanic is designed to be simple, fair, and transparent. Each quote is a flat rate that covers labor, parts, and the mechanic's travel to your location. You'll never be surprised by shop fees, environmental surcharges, or upsell pressure once the mechanic is on-site.
Because the platform is a marketplace, multiple independent mechanics quote your specific job. That competition is what keeps pricing honest — instead of one shop's number, you see two to four real bids from local certified pros and pick the price, ETA, and reviews that work for you.
Why prices can vary between mechanics
One mechanic might be five minutes from your house with the part already on the truck; another might need to source it from a partner store on the way. Differences in overhead, schedule density, and parts source produce small price differences that you can compare before committing.
What's never on your invoice
There are no shop fees, environmental fees, hazardous waste fees, towing fees, after-hours charges, or surge pricing. The flat-rate quote includes everything required for that specific service. Tax, where applicable, is shown as a separate line item up front.
When the price would change
The only situation where the final invoice differs from the original quote is if, while completing the work, the mechanic finds additional issues that genuinely need to be addressed (for example, a worn rotor discovered during a brake pad change). In that case, the mechanic gets your written approval before doing any extra work — never after.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the price for my repair calculated?
Each independent mobile mechanic on the platform sets their own quote based on labor (using fair-market times), the actual cost of the parts your vehicle needs, and any travel to your location. There are no shop fees, environmental surcharges, or hidden line items. The price you accept in the quote is the price you pay.
What's included in the price I'm quoted?
Every quote includes labor, all required parts, the mechanic's travel to your address, and any diagnostic work needed to confirm the issue. If your job is complex enough that the mechanic needs more time on-site to diagnose before quoting parts, that's flagged before booking so there are no surprises.
Do you have surge pricing or hidden fees?
No. There is no surge pricing. The quote you accept is fixed and includes everything needed to complete that specific service. The only time the final invoice changes is if, on inspection, the mechanic finds extra work is genuinely needed (like a worn rotor discovered during a brake pad change) — and they get your written approval before doing it.
What's your refund policy?
If a job is canceled before the mechanic begins work, you receive a full refund. If you're not satisfied with completed work, contact our support team — we'll coordinate a free follow-up visit or a partial/full refund depending on the situation. Most repairs are also covered by a 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty on parts and labor.
