TravelMechanic terms of use

Last updated: October, 2025

Overview

Welcome to TravelMechanic. These Terms of Use, together with our Limited Warranty, our Privacy Policy, and all other rules and policies linked here, form the "Agreement." This Agreement is a legal contract between you and TravelMechanic ("we" or "us").

By using our applications, websites, or services (the "Services"), you agree to this Agreement. Read these Terms before using our Services. If you do not agree, do not use the Services. These Terms take precedence over any prior agreements or information published elsewhere. We may terminate this Agreement or your access to the Services at any time, for any reason.

Supplemental terms

Supplemental terms are additional rules specific to certain Services, events, or promotions — including our Privacy Policy. They are part of this Agreement. If a conflict exists, Supplemental Terms take precedence for the relevant Service.

Amendments

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted to our platform. By continuing to use our Services after an update, you accept the revised Terms.

Your representation

By using our Services, you confirm that:

The services

TravelMechanic provides a technology platform — including websites and mobile apps (the "TravelMechanic Platform") — that connects you with vehicle service providers. These include mechanics, technicians, inspectors, and independent contractors ("Technicians"). Through the platform, you can book services such as inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, repair, and towing ("Vehicle Services").

License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use our Services. This license requires your compliance with these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by us.

Restrictions

To ensure fair and responsible use of our platform, we impose certain restrictions:

Your use of our services

Please review the following guidelines to get the most from our Services.

User accounts

Most Services require a registered account ("Account"). To sign up, we ask for your name, email, address, vehicle details, mobile number, and at least one valid payment method.

Keep your account information accurate and up to date. Inaccurate details may limit your access or lead to termination. You are responsible for all activity under your Account. Keep your password secure. We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorized use of your password. Contact us immediately if you suspect a security breach.

Scheduling a service

When you're ready to request a service, referred to as a "Job," you may need to provide specific details:

Make sure your chosen location is accessible to the technician. The technician must have the access, permissions, and legal authorization needed to complete the job there.

After submitting a Job Request, we may show you pricing and a list of available technicians, including their ratings and experience. We reserve the right to update items and prices before billing.

Any changes to a Job Request or rescheduling must be documented in the TravelMechanic platform. Note that rescheduling may result in additional fees.

Cooperation and courtesy

Treat technicians courteously and lawfully. Provide a safe working environment that meets all applicable laws. Cooperate with technicians so they can complete the job. Technician availability may vary due to illness, vacation, or other factors.

Providing parts

You may supply parts for a technician to install. If you do, the Limited Warranty does not apply to those parts. If your supplied parts are incorrect, extra labor to source the right parts will be added to your invoice — at least 25% of total labor. TravelMechanic is not liable for incorrect customer-supplied parts.

Component fragility

Plastic, rubber, and composite components can become brittle over time. They may break during disassembly. TravelMechanic is not responsible for such failures. If a component fails, we will provide a revised estimate that includes its replacement.

Replaced vehicle parts

To keep your replaced parts, contact us at support@travelmechanic.ai. A core charge may apply. You are responsible for disposing of parts in accordance with applicable laws. Parts removed under a Limited Warranty claim must be returned to us.

Communications

By using our Services, you agree to receive messages from us. These may include emails, texts, calls, and push notifications covering:

To stop texts, reply "STOP" from the receiving device. Note that opting out may affect your use of our Services. When you communicate with a technician, we may mask your phone number for privacy. We log call and message data — including time, phone numbers, and content — for legitimate business purposes.

You will also receive transactional emails. We may send promotional messages about offers we think interest you. Unsubscribe at any time via the "unsubscribe" link in our emails or by contacting us directly.

Promotional codes or credits

We may offer promotional codes or credits ("Promo Codes") redeemable for account credit or service benefits. The following rules apply:

We may withhold or deduct credits if we determine a Promo Code was used in error, fraudulently, illegally, or in violation of these Terms.

User content

You may submit text, audio, and visual content ("User Content"). You keep ownership of your content. By submitting it, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, modify, reproduce, display, and distribute it to improve and operate our Services.

You confirm you own your User Content or have the rights to share it. Content must not infringe third-party rights, be offensive, or break applicable laws. We may remove User Content at any time, without notice, at our sole discretion.

Network access and devices

You are responsible for obtaining compatible devices and a data connection to use our Services. We are not liable for internet outages, delays, or electronic communication failures.

Payment terms

Please review how payments work on TravelMechanic:

Charges

Charges apply when you receive Vehicle Services. These include the cost of the service plus any applicable taxes. We record your preferred payment method when you book a job. By booking, you authorize us to charge that method for all applicable fees.

Late cancellation and rescheduling

Canceling a job late may incur a Late Cancellation Fee. Rescheduling may also incur a fee. Do not arrange payment directly with the Technician. We are not liable for damages caused by releasing information to third parties.

Payment facilitation

After your service, we collect payment on behalf of the Technician as their limited payment agent. Payments made this way count as direct payment to the Technician. Charges are generally final and non-refundable unless we decide otherwise.

Immediate payment

All charges are due when the service is complete. If your primary payment method fails, we may charge a secondary method on your Account.

Charge revisions

We may update pricing for any Vehicle Service at our discretion. If a Technician needs to change or add services, you authorize payment of the updated amount. If additional work is needed or the job cannot be completed as requested, a diagnosis fee may apply.

Termination

Termination by TravelMechanic

We may terminate this Agreement, suspend your Account, or remove your access at any time, with or without notice, and for any reason.

If your Account is terminated, you may not re-register under any name or identity. We may delete your Account and all related data. You do not have ownership rights to your Account.

Termination by you

You may terminate this Agreement by stopping all use of our Services. Termination takes effect immediately unless you have outstanding Services. If Services are pending or in progress, this Agreement remains in effect until they are complete or canceled.

Inspection or diagnosis work

Here is how inspections and diagnoses work on TravelMechanic:

Not a state or SMOG inspection

Inspections on our platform are not state or SMOG inspections. Passing our inspection does not guarantee your vehicle will pass an official state or SMOG test.

Diagnosis process

A diagnosis Job focuses on identifying your vehicle's issue. The Technician uses visual checks, tests, and their expertise to find potential causes. Not every issue can be identified in a single visit.

Complex problems

Some problems require a process of elimination. A Technician may replace a suspected part to see if the issue resolves. For example, an oil leak may have multiple sources. Fixing the most obvious one first may reveal additional leaks, which would require separate work and charges.

Limited warranty coverage

Our Limited Warranty covers the repair work done based on the diagnosis. It does not cover the diagnosis itself or issues unrelated to the replaced part. New issues that arise after a repair may require additional services and charges.

Booking a repair without a diagnosis

If you book a repair without a diagnosis and the Technician finds the job is not feasible on-site or requires different work that you decline, we may charge one hour of labor. When unsure about what your vehicle needs, we recommend booking a diagnosis first.

Pre-purchase inspection

Our pre-purchase inspections are based on the visual observations and professional judgment of our Technicians. Please read this section carefully to understand what they cover.

Inspection conditions

Accuracy can be affected by weather, lighting, and vehicle cleanliness. For the best results, ensure the vehicle is clean, dry, and well-lit. Technicians do not clean or disassemble vehicles during an inspection.

On-site inspection

Technicians come to the vehicle's location. They do not use a lift but may use floor jacks for access. Pre-purchase inspections are not diagnostic Jobs. Diagnostic equipment is not typically used. Technicians may note the VIN but do not verify its authenticity, history, or title.

Subjective nature

Inspections involve professional judgment. Conclusions may differ between inspectors. Our reports reflect what a qualified technician would observe during an independent inspection.

Limited scope

Inspections cover only the items listed in the report. If an item is not mentioned, assume it was not inspected. Technicians may inspect additional items on request, but inclusion in the report is not guaranteed.

Test drives

A test drive is not required. If one was performed, it will be noted in the report. Otherwise, no test drive took place.

No guarantees or warranties

Inspection reports carry no guarantees. Vehicle condition may change between inspection and purchase. Internal components — such as those inside the engine or transmission — are not visible without disassembly. Hidden issues may not be found during inspection.

Not a valuation or authentication

We do not provide vehicle valuations, emissions compliance assessments, or authentication. The decision to buy or decline a vehicle is yours. Our inspection does not create a warranty for the vehicle. Any defect recourse is limited to the seller's own warranty.

Not a warranty or insurance

A pre-purchase inspection is not a warranty or insurance policy. If you buy the vehicle, you are responsible for all repair and maintenance costs. Check the vehicle's warranty status and insurance coverage independently.
